Holy Family Institute’s Annual Golf Classic raises funds for education and social service programs throughout Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH – On Mon., July 31, 2023 Holy Family Institute will host its annual Golf Classic at The Club at Nevillewood in Presto, PA. The day-long event raises funds for Holy Family Institute’s education and social service programs, including Nazareth Prep, the organization’s high school dedicated to bridging the education-to-employment skills gap for students of all faiths and backgrounds.

This is the 37th year for the Golf Classic, which began in 1986 when the community came together to raise funds for rebuilding after part of Holy Family Institute’s residential facility was destroyed in a fire. For the third year in a row, former Pittsburgh Penguin and two-time Stanley Cup Champion Pierre Larouche will chair. The event will take place at The Club at Nevillewood, a championship course designed by Jack Nicklaus.

A shotgun start will initiate the festivities at 10:00 a.m. A late lunch will be served at the Clubhouse after foursomes complete their round of golf, with beverages and snacks available on the course throughout. Individual and corporate participants can choose from a variety of packages at various donation levels and there will be a raffle the day of the event. This year’s title sponsor is Jim Shorkey Auto Group.

“It’s always a joy to gather with friends and supporters at this event,” says Holy Family Institute CEO Sister Linda Yankoski. “This is an opportunity for those friends to contribute to a bright future for our city, with funds going to benefit the motivated and community-minded students at Nazareth Prep.”

This year’s Gold Sponsors are the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth and The Wilson Group. Silver Sponsors include Federated Hermes, F.N.B. Corporation, Intrasystems, Metz Culinary Management, ProSite Systems, Inc., The John & Loriann Putzier Family Foundation, Rosedale Technical College, and UPMC Health Plan. The Driving Range is sponsored by Dentons Cohen & Grigsby and the Pittsburgh Penguins have provided prizes for the event’s auction.
