New Program Opens Doors to Trade Careers
Since 1900, we have supported young people on our campus in Emsworth. This year, we are proud to announce the new Tools for Life program to further our mission and expand our reach in the community. This innovative workforce development initiative is designed to give young adults the runway they need to launch successful, independent lives.
The program targets individuals actively engaged in apprenticeships or skilled training programs – providing a supportive bridge over the hurdles blocking young people from pursuing their career ambitions. Participants will live on our campus, with access to essential services such as Wi-Fi, laundry, and reliable and safe transportation assistance to job sites.
A holistic curriculum will extend beyond housing and transportation. Residents participate in classes focused on financial empowerment, culinary skills, and driver training – crucial tools for success in adulthood.
“The program is about more than just a place to stay. It’s about building the foundation for a stable, independent future,” said Ami Steinmetz, Program Manager. To learn more, visit hfi-pgh.org/tools-for-life.
