PITTSBURGH – The Pittsburgh Steelers are set to host their 32nd annual Courage House Luncheon in support of Holy Family Institute, part of the National Courage House Network. Holy Family was established as the Steelers’ Courage House in 1991 by Dan Rooney in honor of his father, Arthur J. Rooney Sr. Greta Rooney serves as the event chair, continuing the tradition of celebrating the partnership between the Steelers and Holy Family Institute.
During the luncheon, the Ed Block Courage Award will be presented to a current Steelers player, selected by his teammates for demonstrating resilience in the face of challenges throughout his NFL career. Past honorees include Calvin Austin III, Ryan Shazier, Heath Miller, and Ben Roethlisberger.
Holy Family Institute will present the Arthur J. Rooney Sr. Courage House Award to Chasiti Strickland, a Nazareth Prep alumna who faced significant family responsibilities and personal hardships during her high school years. Despite these challenges, Chasiti remained committed to her education, excelling academically, taking on leadership roles, and standing out in her internship with McCarl’s Services. Now a sophomore studying Computer Engineering at Rochester Institute of Technology, Chasiti continues to exemplify resilience and grit in her collegiate studies.
“We are honored to recognize Chasiti, whose determination to succeed despite overwhelming challenges is inspiring,” says Sister Linda Yankoski, CEO of Holy Family Institute. “Her ability to balance her studies, support her family, and lead within her school community shows a level of strength and maturity far beyond her years. She represents the best of what we aim to instill in all our students.”
