Holy Family Institute Hits the Links for Their 38th Annual Golf Classic
The event benefits Nazareth Prep, their private college and career preparatory high school
PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania – On Mon., July 29, 2024 Holy Family Institute (HFI) will host its annual Golf Classic at The Club at Nevillewood in Presto, PA. The day-long event raises funds for Nazareth Prep, HFI’s high school dedicated to bridging the education-to-employment skills gap for students of all faiths and backgrounds.
This is the 38th year for the Golf Classic, which began in 1986 when the community came together to raise funds for rebuilding after part of HFI’s residential facility was destroyed in a fire. Since its inaugural year, the event has raised nearly $2 million to serve children and families. For the fourth year in a row, former Pittsburgh Penguin and two-time Stanley Cup Champion Pierre Larouche will chair. The event will take place at The Club at Nevillewood, a championship course designed by Jack Nicklaus.
“It is an honor to return as the Honorary Chair for this event,” said Larouche. “We welcome our sponsors and players for a day on the course that supports the important work happening at Nazareth Prep.”
This year’s lead sponsor is Jim Shorkey Auto Group. A shotgun start will initiate the festivities at 10:00 a.m. with a late lunch served at the Clubhouse after foursomes complete their round of golf. Foursomes for this year’s Golf Classic are sold out, but additional event sponsorship opportunities are available to support Holy Family Institute and Nazareth Prep.
In addition to 18 holes of scramble golf on a championship course, participants will enjoy a variety of activities. Lead sponsor Jim Shorkey Auto Group is offering a two-year lease on a new vehicle for any skilled golfer who can score a hole-in-one on their sponsored hole. Golfers will also have the opportunity to bid on exciting prizes including signed jerseys donated by the Pittsburgh Penguins and golf foursomes at clubs throughout the region. In keeping with the spirit of the event, golf balls bearing the likeness of St. Anthony, patron saint of lost things, will be hidden throughout the course, with prizes available to those who locate them.
Holy Family Institute CEO Sister Linda Yankoski says, “We are grateful to each of our sponsors whose generous contributions provide vital scholarship support for the school, ensuring that any student can benefit from our innovative educational approach, regardless of their ability to pay.”
This year’s Gold Sponsors are MSA, The Safety Company, Bob and Chris Pietrandrea, and the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth. The Driving Range is sponsored by Dentons Cohen & Grigsby and the Putting Green is sponsored by Elisa Cavalier of Baird Private Wealth Management. Silver Sponsors include CentiMark, F.N.B. Corporation, Peter & Lisa Germain, KeyBank, Leadership Development, Rosedale Technical College, and The Wilson Group.
