Nazareth Prep Celebrates 2024 Graduation
The groundbreaking high school will host commencement for its seventh graduating class on June 7th.
PITTSBURGH – On June 7th, Nazareth Prep will celebrate the graduation of its seventh senior class. Founded in 2014, the independent Catholic high school uses creative strategies to bridge the education-to-employment skills gap for students of all backgrounds. As their high school experience draws to a close, all our graduates have exciting opportunities ahead. Of the 23 graduates, 74% will attend four-year colleges and universities and 26% will enroll in two-year colleges and technical schools.
The students of Nazareth Prep’s class of 2024 have had a unique high school experience. Beginning their freshman year during the pandemic meant that masks and virtual learning were constants. Starting in their sophomore year, they spent one day per week gaining work experience at internships with local Pittsburgh companies. Since the school’s founding, the list of Pittsburgh businesses and organizations that participate in the internship program has grown to more than 65 and includes major employers such as UPMC Health Plan, the Pittsburgh Steelers, F.N.B. Corporation, Koppers, Federated Hermes, Allegheny General Hospital, and more.
Dr. Stacy Tweedy, Nazareth Prep’s Head of School, commends the graduates on their accomplishments: “Congratulations to the Class of 2024! Resilience, creativity, and a relentless pursuit of excellence have all characterized your time at Nazareth Prep. As you enter the next chapter of your life, remember the values and skills you cultivated here. You can lead with empathy, think critically, and contribute meaningfully to your communities and the world. We are incredibly proud of each of you and excited to see the remarkable paths you will forge. Continue to strive, to challenge, and to make a difference – the future is yours.”
Graduation will take place on Fri., June 7th at 6:00 p.m. with Dr. Kathy Wilson Humphrey, PhD, President of Carlow University, as our keynote speaker. The ceremony will be held on Nazareth Prep’s campus in Emsworth, 8235 River Blvd., Pittsburgh, PA 15202.
