Michael Sexauer Becomes Chief Executive Officer at Holy Family Institute
Sister Linda Yankoski transitions to President Emerita
PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania [Tues., July 1, 2025]. Michael Sexauer, who has been President of Holy Family Institute since 2022, becomes Chief Executive Officer today, July 1 2025. Sexauer, the first lay leader in the Institute’s 125-year history, succeeds Sister Linda Yankoski, CSFN (Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth), who transitions to the role President Emerita after four decades of extraordinary service.
Sexauer joined Holy Family Institute in 2015 as Executive Director of the Holy Family Foundation. He became Chief Operating Officer of the Institute in 2019 and President in 2022. He brings significant leadership experience, strategic vision, and a deep commitment to HFI’s mission of serving some of the most vulnerable members of the Pittsburgh community.
“Sister Linda has been at the core of that mission for over 40 years, adapting to changing times with wisdom, courage, and originality,” Sexauer said. “Under her leadership, Holy Family Institute has lived the mission of the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth by pioneering alternative learning and career training environments, housing homeless children, offering mental health and substance use counseling, and helping families overcome debilitating financial limitations.”
As President Emerita, Sister Linda will continue to serve as an advisor and ambassador for HFI and Nazareth Prep, a private Catholic School for students of all faiths.
“We are deeply grateful to Sister Linda for her visionary leadership and steadfast commitment,’ said Staci Brogan, Chair of the HFI Board of Trustees. “We are equally confident in Michael Sexauer’s ability to lead us forward. His experience, integrity, and dedication make him the right leader at the right time.”
A graduate of Erie (PA) Cathedral Prep and Clarion University (now PennWest Clarion), Sexauer also holds an MBA degree from the Babcock School of Wake Forest University. Prior to joining Holy Family Institute, he held management positions in banking, advertising, and arts and cultural organizations.
“As we look to the future, the team will focus on expanding access to wraparound services, growing our community partnerships, and ensuring every family we serve has the tools to thrive,” says Sexauer.
